ARBOFORM is a type of bioplastic. Arboform is manufactured from 100% renewable raw materials. It is biodegradable.
ARBOFORM contains lignin. Lignin is the most common natural polymer after cellulose. Lignin is a by-product of the cellulose industry. The pulp industry produces an incredible 50 million tons of lignin (as a waste product) every year worldwide. By mixing lignin with natural fibres (flax, hemp or other fibre plants) and natural additives, a fibre composite is created (upcycling). Processed at elevated temperatures, under increased pressure and processed on plastic injection moulding machines, this material can be turned into moulded parts, such as soap cans, toothbrush cups and toothbrush boxes, like a kind of bio-plastic.
