This rug is a giant piece of embroidery. One can see this shawl has already been washed as some colors tend to fade. It has been already repaired as there used to be a whole on one side. One can see on the pictures. This rug is overall in a good condition.

It's called a shawl because as it was traditionally used to cover horses, camels or to protect carpets.
