Patterns around the pendants represent the foot prints of the caravans in the desert sand, called anakat en in Tuareg language.

On top of the pendants, the triangle is the road map for nomads from Agadez to Zender, then with the mil bought in Zender, to Bilma, and then back to Agadez with salt for camels.  Inside the map are dunes striped by the wind. Caravans tracks delineate the map.

Below that, horizontal lines are snake traces in the sand.

Tuaregs say that coper protects against bone illnesses.
